Our neighbor Leo knocked on our door at about 7:30 AM and said that there were toronado warnings and that we should take shelter in cabin 7. We finished making the coffe, put the rain slicker on Snoopy and joined them. It had rained a lot over night. In about an hour it looked like everything had moved to the east. So we set out for Branson. I took the wrong turn leaving Promise Land and couldn't find a place to turn around. Finally at the end of the road there was a house with a circular drive, too tight to turn around with the car attached, but I unhooked the car and got everything turned around. We then headed for Branson, MO. We got to Hollister, a small town just outside Branson, where we planned on staying at the Escapee's Turkey Creek RV Village. With all the rain, Table Rock Lake had risen to the extent the Corps of Engineers had to open all 10 of the spillways on
Table Rock Dam. This caused flooding of half of Turkey Creek Village and they thought they might have to release more. They suggested that we stay at
Table Rock State Park which is not in any danger of flooding. We found a beautiful spot by the marina. We took some pictures of the spillway from a view point a couple miles away, where we saw an eagle nest with a baby and the mother making frequent trips to feed it, and at the bottom of the spillway at the fish hatchery. We then drove the strip in Branson and had dinner at the Grand Country Buffet.
