Another perfect day, sunny, 84 degrees, slight breeze. Had coffee with Bob and Helen at their motor home in Rover's Roost Escapee's park. We took off at 10:00 AM for Tucson. The obvious route to Gilbert Ray Campground in Tucson Mountain Park was Exit 257 and Speedway Blvd. to Gates Pass Road to Kinney Road. I got to a point where it said no vehicles over 12,000#, we weigh 20,000#, didn't say any thing about length. No place to turn around, so we went on. Pretty exciting taking 60' of vehicles where they don't recommend any thing beyond 24'. Made it and registered at Gilbert Ray Campground, had no choice but site with electricity. First night we've paid since we left North Dakota except for entrance to the International Date Festival in Indio, $20 for three nights. This is $20 per night but worth it. Snoopy and Thomas appreciated the air conditioning. We went to the West Unit of the Saguaro National Park and went thru the visitor center, watched the slide show and bought a book on SW plants. We decided to go into Tucson and I wanted to go to The 4WD store. Supposed to be at 4001 E. Speedway Blvd., but I didn't see it. We drove thru the University of Arizona campus, very nice. We then drove down to Ajo Road and back to Kinney Road. We looking for a grocery store, but saw only one Fod City at an inconvenient place. Saw lots of drug stores however. Got back to the camp site and grilled a steak for dinner.
