We are in Concord, NC for the NASCAR Lowes Motor Speedway Races.  We left home on Friday October 9th.  We left at 9 PM and got as far as the Rest Stop east of Fergus Falls, MN.  About 10 miles west of Fergus Falls on I94 I saw a lot of emergency lights ahead.  As I go to them I found it was three highway patrol cars spaced about 1/4 mile apart and that it was glare ice.  Made it slowly to the rest area and stopped for the night.  Saturday morning we went on to Cold Spring to visit the granddaughters.  Stopped in St Cloud for a couple of hours to visit Jay at St Cloud Hyundai.  He was helping a couple from Fargo purchasing a vehicle.

Went on thru Wisconsin and spent the night at a nice Cracker Barrel in Janesville, WI.  The Walmart across the street didn't allow over night parking.  Sunday drove thru Kentuck and Tennessee and spent the night at a rest area just east of Shelbyville, KY.  Monday tried to go to the Buffalo Trace distillery in Frankfort, KY, as suggested at the Welcome Center.  Parking was not RV friendly, so Cathy called the Wild Turkey distillery in Lawrenceville, KY and asked about parking.  They said it was not a problem so we went there and took the tour.  It was very interesting and I recommend it to anyone that's ever in the area.  Left Lawrenceville and drove on to Newport, TN where we stayed at a nice Walmart.  Filled up at the Murphy station for $2.39.9.  Monday drove on to Asheville, NC where we stayed at Wilson's RV park a short distance from the Biltmore Estate.  When I tried to level the motorhome only the front jacks went down.  Nice cement pads, so was not a seious problem.  Tuesday we toured the Biltmore Estate, it was very interesting and enjoyable.  We tasted may of the Estate wine at the winery and bought three bottles. The day was perfect, just the right temperature and sunny.

It started raining early Wednesday morning and continued thru the whole day.  We drove to Concord, NC thru the rain and mountains where in many places the posted speed limit was 35 mph.  Got to Concord and found a spot at Yates Farm Family campground next to the Turn Two parking lot.  Nice gravel spaces.  $30/night.  The Wednesday night World of Outlaws race was postponed until Nov. 4th.  We went to the Concord Walmart which is one of the new design with wide aisles and the pharmacy in the middle, very nice.

Thursday it rained most of the day, but they got the track dried and had practice at 7:00 PM.  We went for Qualifiying at 9:00 PM.  It was cool but we enjoyed it.  We drove the Jeep over closer to the track.  I parked in the regular parking and it was so muddy I had to use 4WD to get out.
