We are at the Mayberry RV Park in Mount Airy, NC.  Mount Airy is where Andy Griffith was born and raised and is the basis for the fictional Mayberry.  Main Street is full of little shops and places to eat.  Had a pork tenderloin sandwich at the Blue Bird Diner for $3.75.  It was really good, Cathy had a North Carolina dog with chilie, coleslaw and onions on it.  Checked out Floyd's barber shop and Snappy Lunch where we were too late for lunch.  Took pictures of the squad car and Cathy in jail. We tasted wine at the Old North State Winery.  I enjoyed all the wines, especially the muscat grape wines.

We had poor weather for the NASCAR races.  Friday night for the Nationwide race wasn't too bad, we sat on turn 4.  Kyle Busche won the Nationwide Dollar General 300 race.  Saturday we went out to Hendrick Motor Sports and saw the garages.  We also stopped at the Sam Bass Gallery and got some posters and a book.  The Saturday night race started at 7:00 PM with driver introductions and the race started at 7:40 PM.  We sat on turn 2 for the Bank of America Sprint Cup race.  The wind blew right at us, it was cold at 51 degrees and misty some of the time.  We had a lot of college students drinking beer all around us.  Jimmie Johnson won the race.

On Sunday we left Concord, NC at noon and drove to Kannapolis to look at the Dale Trail.  Stopped and took pictures of Cathy and me at the Dale Earnhardt memorial where there is a nine foot bronze statue of him.  Drove out to DEI (Dale Earnhardt Inc.) sometime called the Garage M'hal.

Cathy found the Mayberry RV Park in the Passport America list and we decided we had to stop.  We will also be staying tomorrow evening.  We plan on visiting Pilot Mountain tommorrow (called Mt Pilot in Mayberry RFD.)
