It was dry but cool today. We got to Quartzsite about 11:30 AM and went to LaMesa RV to line up for their free lunch. This year it is from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM. We had large hot dogs today. After lunch we went over to the QIA for the
44th Annual QIA Pow Wow and Gem and Mineral Show. It is one of the largest gem and mineral shows in the world with 500 vendor spaces. Cathy bought some interesting items, including some sand stone that looks like a painting. The sand stone comes from Ohio and a man from France bought most of it. He took it over to Desert Gardens where he had some kind of sales spot and sold it for a lot more than he bought it for. He has a store named La Galerie du Fort Vauban in Fouras, France. He sells minerals, fossils and sea shells. After spending the afternoon at the Gem and Mineral Show, we went to the fish fry at
Sweet Darlene's on the east edge of Quartzite next to the Readers Oasis bookstore. The fish fry starts at 4:00 PM. We got in line at 3:45 PM and got seated at 4:30 PM. The fish was cod and you had a choice of baked potatoes, french fries or potato salad. Cost $7.95 and there were 3 large pieces of fish, coleslaw, potato and swirl bread. Cathy stopped at Beal's and I stopped at Family Dollar for some snacks on the way back to the motorhome.
