Another very nice day. Clear and warm with a strong NE wind. The over night low was 51 degrees and the high today was 81 degrees, the first 80 degree day of the year here. The wind speed was 15 mph, with gusts to 18 mph. Had my 14 th treatment this morning, scheduled for 10:00 AM, but they were 30 minutes late. We had made plans to meet Bob and Helen who we camp with at Imperial Dam at the Cadsa Grande Ruins at 12:30 PM. We got there at 12:20 PM, so every thing worked out fine time wise. Helen and Bob have a lot at the Escapee's
Rover's Roost RV Park near Casa Grande. We too the guided tour at the
Casa Grande Ruins and checked out all the desert plant life on the grounds. The compound area was inhabited for about 1,000 years until around 1450 AD. Father Kino was the first to call the ruins "Casa Grande", which means big house, in 1694. It was 4 stories and had 11 rooms. It is not known what its purpose was, but no evidence, such as fire remains or kernels of corn, have been found to indicate it was inhabited. After touring the ruins, Bob and Helen invited us to their motor home for grilled food. We had excellent meat that they had gotten at the
Pork Shop in Queen Creek. We met their neighbors, Bob & Dot and Gary and Pam, who shared the BBQ with us. We got back to the motor home in about an hour at 7:00 PM. We then went to the Wild Flower Bread Co. to pick up a loaf of Irish soda bread that I had ordered on line for St Patricks Day.
