We awoke to a sunny, extremely windy day at the casino. The over night low was 39 degrees. We got going by 10:00am and headed out again on I-8. We went through El Cajon and La Mesa and then got on I-15 to go north to Rancho Bernardo in San Diego. We got to the Bernardo Winery , the oldest continuously operating winery in San Diego county. We are in a camping program called Harvest Hosts that allows free over night camping at wineries and farms. I wanted to stay some place in the vicinity of Escondido to meet my cousin Kathleen, who lives in Mission Viejo. We did wine tasting at about 2:00pm. When I lived out here, I used to get wine here for $3.00/gal, bringing my own jug. It now costs $90 for that same gallon of Burgandy. It is really good and we tasted 5 wines made here and bout $63 worth. We walked around the village at the winery and then went into Escondido. We stopped at Trader Joe's. This store was a very nice store, but didn't have the $1.99 Italian wine we bought in Tempe. We picked up some cold meat, cheese and chips and went back to the motor home for a casual dinner.
