02-05-2012 Sunday - Super Bowl
Nice sunny, wind free day. Went in to Walmart to get some things for the Super Bowl party. We brought shrimp and chocolate almonds. Bob did a nice job of making a shelter out of the awning area on his motor home.

You can see the TV above the blue hat. We had a lot of good food. Enjoed the last 3 minutes of the game, especially the Giant trying not make a touch down, but falling across the goal line.

It was a perfect day, very little wind 3 mph, over night low 45 degrees and high of 73 degrees.

02-04-2012 New Permit
Another nice sunny day. Our LTVA permit expired yesterday, so had to go up to the Camp host and get another one for two weeks. $40 and it will come out just right, as it will expire on the day we go to pick up Kathryn. Took the garbage up there and also got 6 gallons of water. Spent the day around the motor home. Didn't get much done. Worked on laying out the battery feed to the inverters. Went to Happy Hour at Bob and Helen's, others went to Lynn and Sandy's. Had left over lasagna for dinner. Watched several hours of TV.

Sunny, over night low 41 degrees, high for the day 72 degrees. windy with gusts to 18 mph.

02-03-2012 Friday Al's RV Sale
Another sunny day. We saw in the White Sheet that Al's RV in the Foothills was having a Customer Appreciation Day with 15% off every thing. I needed a new vent cover for the refrigerator vent as I will have to break the original one when I run the solar panel cables down the vent. Picked it up and ordered thermistor clips, supposed to be in next Wednesday. The clip finally broke completely, I have the thermistor clipped to the fin with a paper clip and wad of cardboard.

Stopped by Mitri lake on the way in. Gloria and Scott and Glenn and Yvonne are camped there.

Glenn's Triple E with Wind Generator

01-31-2012 Tuesday Yuma Oncology Center
Nice morning. Got the online duties done. took the garbage up to the LTVA center and filled the water container. Went into Yuma by way of Bard to check on the mail. There wasn't any mail. Met Bob, Helen, Bill and Lana at Logan's Road House. I had meat loaf and Cathy had salmon. Went over to Home Depot for some parts to install the inverters and solar. They didn't have exactly what I wanted. Went to Yuma Oncology Center to pick up a packet of information to fill out for my appointment with Dr. Grado on the 9th. Went to the Foothills Veterinary Hospital to pick up a prescription for Snoopy.

Drove by the new Frye's grocery store and decided to stop in. It is huge and a beautiful store, especially the deli section. Picked up some bread, olives and ice cream.

Got back in time to join the campfire. Nice evening.

Sunny today with an over night low of 46 degrees and a high of 76 degrees.

01-29-2012 Yuma Shopping
Got up to a windy overcast day. Listened to Fox News on XM Radio and checked the Internet. Went into Bard at about noon, to pick up our mail.

Bard Post Office

We then went into Yuma to the 99 cent only store. Stocked up on produce and a few other things. Went from there over to the new Walmart on the east side of town. Replenished my beer supply with a 12 pack of Tecate and a few other things we needed. On the way home stopped at filled the Jeep and 2 gallon can for Honda generator, $3.459/gal.

Got back to the motor home and fixed the bat wing TV antenna. Went down to Bob's for Happy Hour. Got a call from Gloria asking for directions to Imperial Dam. The camp host had come over and said that those who had stayed there for 14 days had to leave. When Gloria and Glenn got back, it became any one who hadn't registered with the camp host. After they were all packed up and leaving, Frank came back and said they could register with the camp host in the morning. Called them back with the coordinates.

Cathy made Portabella mushroom and Provolone cheese sandwiches. got the large Portabella mushrooms at the 99 cent only store 2 for 99 cents.

01-28-2012 Leave Quartzsite for Imperial Dam
We left Quartzsite today. Got going earlier. Talked to Glenn at length about his wind generator from Gud Craft. Puts out 400 watts and is silent. Gloria and Scott were headed over to Burbank to look at a Blue Bird diesel motor home. Said good bye to every one and headed into Quartzsite to fill with  gas and propane. Cathy drove the Jeep and I took the motor home to Pilot and parked it. We then took the Jeep to La Mesa RV for lunch. Had Hot dogs and a salad. Saw Bob and Uarda and Jerry and Diane at La Mesa RV. Looked at a couple of Itasca Sunstars, selling new for $99,995. One was a 30T with three slides and the other was a 35F.

I measured the gas struts on the bed and basement doors. The Gambler has them for $10, but not any of the sizes I needed. Stopped at the
store next to the produce market and picked up a copy of Paul Winer's 2011 concert. Missed the one at the QIA this year. Llloyd and Vera tried to go but couldn't get in, so I told them we would have them over and have our own private concert.

Went back to Pilot and filled with gas, while Cathy went out to La Posa south to wait for me. Pilot was a big mess. When I went to the pump it wouldn't take my card, just wanted me to pump gas. A man from Winnepeg had prepaid, but given them the wrong pump number. The pumps were extremely slow. $3.43/gal with 2 cent discount. Then went to the propane dealer behind the jerky shop and filled with propane for $2.75.gal.

Went out to La Posa South and dumped and filled with water. Hooked up the Jeep. it went into neutral fine. Took off for Imperial Dam about 4:00pm. Stopped half way at Stone Cabin and had ice cream. Pulled into the campsite about 6:00pm. Talked to Bob and Andy and got parked.

Had the rest of the Pizza for dinner.

It got down to 34 degrees last night in Quartzsite. The high today in Quartzsite was 68 degrees. The high today in Bard, CA where we camp was 71 degrees.
